See below for a message from the Shelby District Chair, Dr. Larry Lee:

Good afternoon Shelby District parents and leaders,

Every year we like to recognize adult Scout leaders who render service of an outstanding nature at the district level at our annual District Banquet. These are individuals who not only worked with Scouts in their unit, but went beyond the call of duty to help youth at a District level. These selfless individuals may have volunteered time to work at our District Cub Day Camp, District Camporee, District Merit Badge Day, District Scouting for Food, District Training (SMLST, OLS, BALOO, etc.), District Outdoor Merit Badge Day, District Pinewood Derby, District OA Chapter, and other activites in the District. We have some of the best Scouting programs for our youth and none of them would be possible without the efforts of volunteers who organize and work in these events. We have MANY wonderful volunteers who deserve to be recognized for their efforts.

I am asking a great favor: Will you nominate someone in your unit who you feel deserves this recognition, who has volunteereed time in District activities and events and made a difference? We have had some nominations submitted, but are looking for more. If you will go to the website below, it will take you to our Shelby District website and give you the information and a link to download the nomination form:

When you have completed the form, please email it to our District Scout Executive, Mr. Jay Elliott at:

The Shelby District Award of Merit nominating committee will be meeting in a week to select our most worthy candidates. So, please submit your nominations within the next week.

Also, please don’t forget to email Ms. Julie Decker about attending the Shelby District banquet on March 14, 2019 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church beginning at 6PM. Please go the website below to get details:

Thank you for all you do for our youth.

Serving Our Youth,
Larry Lee
Shelby District Chairman
